This year had an amazing start, and much of that had to do with Alexis and Joey's wedding! Let me tell you all about it!
You may remember that I have a Utah bride special package, which allows me to improve my travel photography business (by the way, if you're not in Utah but would like to work with me, just contact me - I'm KNOW we can work something out). Well, Alexis caught wind of it and we started talking. Soon enough, she and Joey booked my for their wedding and I booked a plane ticket to Utah!
I arrived in Utah to temperate weather and dessert scenery. I have to admit, I was hoping for a bit more snow on those mountains. I wanted to capture those dreamy mountain shots that you simply can't get in Indiana. Well, as luck would have it, I did get snow - and slush and rain and sleet and all kinds of yuckiness! My second shooter, Kaitlyn, was such a trooper driving me around between the temple and the reception and helping me keep everything organized and my equipment dry. I'm so thankful for her!
The great thing about weddings is that - no matter the weather - the show must go on! And it always does so beautifully! Seriously, I think God must pour down blessings on wedding days, because we are always able to work with what we get and capture lovely moments (I should know - it rained all day long when I got married).
It also helps that Joey and Alexis are so easy-going. You could tell they were just happy to be in love and officially married, and they basked in the support of friends and family around them. Everyone was determined to have a good time. And they succeeded.
Let me say something about the venues. The Bountiful Temple is stunning - fountains and archways, all set on a mountainside. You can't get much better than that.
And check out the reception! I can personally attest to the fact that decorating an LDS gym is no easy feat. And yet, it was stunning! Each light and decoration added to the theme, and the ambiance was full of sweetness and love.
Plus, check out the sweets at the refreshment table!
Joey and Alexis, you are a beautiful and fun couple! I wish you all the best in your marriage and hope to work with you and your loved ones again sometime. It'd be worth the trip, for sure. Thank you for bringing me out to Utah to participate in such a special day! You guys look great and I hope you never lose the romance that these photos capture!
P.S. Special thanks to Kyle and his wife Teri Jo for taking me to the train station and making sure I got on okay - that weather was ridiculous and my second shooter had to get back up north before it got too bad. Sadly, I have no experience with public transportation. Kyle and Teri Jo were lifesavers!
